Madhur Bhandarkar has penchant for exposing the dark side of glamour industry in his movies. Be it Tabu’s Chandini Bar Or Priyanka chopra and Kangana Ranut featured Fashion. Most of the content in his madhur’s is based on true incidents. He always want to divulge ugly truth behind the sizzling industry. The title calendar girls itself saying that this fill is all about bikini girls, photoshoots, Luxurious parties, Ad agencies, Models and their problems.
Coming to the plot, There are five female models who wants to achieve big things. In the course They become calendar girls of 2014 and things getting changed. two of them are involved in controversies and rest of the three girls lead their lives happily. When two girls gets trapped in unfortunate troubles people tend to blame glamour industry but here Madhur says that it is individual choice that drive them into trouble.
The problem with calendar girls is regular content. Madhur has offered nothing new here in this 131 minutes film. The lead actors have played their roles very well. Out of all those five girls, Ruhi Scored brownie points with her acting skills and skin show. A few dialogues makes you laugh. The director himself did a cameo appearance and it is good. Vedhatam’s camera work is passable where a few frames have vintage shades. Musicians scored some peppy numbers.
On the whole, If there is no captivating content, No one could save any kind of project. Even the glamour dolls failed to save this drama. I’m going with two out of five stars.
