Bottom Line : Varuntej evolved as a great actor
Mother is the living God we have seen in our lives. There are so many movies made on the greatness of mother. But Loafer is quite different from other movies. This Puri Jagannadh celluloid deals with the greatness of mother by conflating balanced emotions. the star director teamed up with a two film old actor Varun Tej.
Lofar begins with a turbulent couple, Lakshmi (Revathi) and Murali (Posani Krishna Murali) in a hamlet. Lakshmi wants to get separate from her husband but the cunning Murali abducts his one year old son. A few years later, Raja ( Varun Tej) and his father, Murali land in Jodhpur, and turned out as crooks. Being told that his mother passed away by his crook father, Raja gets break down when he sees his mother photo.
A rich girl, Parujatha AKA mouni ( Disha Pathani) escape from home due to her ruthless father (Mukesh Rishi) and Brothers ( Hari charan) try to perform her marriage with a rich business man, Spider Babu (Ali) against her wish. After Mouni lands in Jodhpur, Murali and Raja swindles her. In no time, Raja manage to woo Mouni. In the meantime, Mouni calls up his paternal aunt, Lakshmi ( Revathi) and tells about her love with Raja. Mouni brothers find out the whereabouts of the poor girl. When a gang try to fetch Mouni, Raja thwarts them and offers a deal, In the meantime, lakshmi arrives there. After seeing his mother, he gets astonished. What happened next is rest of the story.
This Is the first action film for Varuntej on the commercial front. In his second film Kanche, This mega hero gave a phenomenal performance, and in Loafer he evolved as a great actor. On the scale of 1 to 10, I will go with 9 for his outstanding performance. His screen presence is top notch. New Girl Disha Pathani, got a meaty role on her debut, She nailed it. Posani Krishna Murali is another actor who stole the show with his impeccable comic timing. Revathi’s performance is one of the bright spots in the film. Mukesh Rishi, Hari charan and Other actors made their mark.
Honestly, I didn’t expect this kind of film from Puri Jagannadh. The story is a great asset to the film. In his Narrative, He didn’t miss his trade mark art direction. The star director extracted the best performances in his actors, and managed to keep the audiences glued to the screen. The captain of the ship takes you on the tour, which is full of balanced emotions. Except Suvvi Suvvalamma, The music is quite a big let down. Editing is too incisive. Vinda captured the aesthetic locations of Jodhpur.
Overall, the title Loafer might serve a notice you that it a regular commercial potboiler but it intermittently gives you aura of refreshing Tearjerker laced up with commercial elements.Loafer gives you all of kind of emotions. I recommend every son must watch this film with his mother. I will go with four out of five stars.
