Ghazi Movie Review

ghazi

It’s been a great year for telugu film industry, Most of the films are fared well at the box office. The new outing of Rana Daggubati is a bilingual film (Hindi and Telugu) opened in theaters across the world. Ghazi is all about the under water war between india and pakistan  in 1971. Kay Kay Menon played an important role in the film along with Atul Kulkarni and Tapsee Pannu. New director Sankalp reddy directed this rare genre film in telugu cinema. This is also the first under water war film in indian cinema too.

Ghazi Opens with the voice over of Mega star Chiranjeevi narrating about the wars between India and Pakistan. In karachi, Pakistan Navy officials hatch a plan to destroy the India’s most disastrous weapon INS Vikrant. On an alert from Indian intelligence, The Navy officials deploy Captain Ran vijay singh (Kay kay menon) and Lieutenant commander, Arjun (Rana Dabbgubati) to keep an eye on pakistan nefarious activites under water and at the same time, command them to not to attack before opponent does.  They named the mission as sea sighting.

Ran Vijay singh is a very intelligent officer but he also turns hot headed  when oppponent rattles his cage. With his stubborn behaviour he was earlier suspended for two years. Meanwhile, Arjun is a disciplined officer, who oblige every rule. With the submarine, They search for opponent whereabouts under water but couldn’t able to find no clue. In the mean time, They comes across pakistan submarine called Ghazi. What happened next is the rest of the story.

Someone need a lot of courage to make this kind of film for his debut. Sankalp reddy  hits the bull eye with his debut project. He splendidly bring out the proper emotions from his characters. Most of the citizens are not aware of this battle but The writers Gunnam Gangaraju and Niranjan reddy made a brilliant effort to promulgate the unknown history to the audiences. Gunnam written dialogues especially the patriotic dialogues in the second half are too good. The best part of the film is its visuals, Madhie  who worked earlier for Srimanthudu, Jil and other films, did a fabulous job. Visuals are nothing short of a hollywood film. Musician K has composed background score gives  goosebumps to the viewers. Production values by PVP are too good.

While working with Baahubali 2 team, Rana Daggubati has done this film too, The young hulk did a fabulous job in emotional scenes. Kay Kay Menon played  an important role and stolen the hearts of viewers with impeccable acting skills. Atul Kulkarni also played a pivotal role. Tapsee did a cameo appearance. The other cast members have done their part  very well.

In the first half, Director takes time to introduce his characters and set the stage but the second half has too much intensity moments, Dialogues, firing, national anthems and outstanding performance of the protagonist. The whole cast and crew made an incredible effort and it palatable with the output. I would go with four out of five stars for this first under water war film in indian cinema.

We have come across trajedy at least once in life and we learn a lot out of it. Based on a real life Trajedy, Raja Krishnan Menon penned the story, which deals with the largest evacuation in human history. 1,70,000 Refugees,488flights, 59 days, and 1 man.

In 1990 An Indian entrepreneur, Ranjit Katiyal (Akshay Kumar), who settle in Kuwait, proclaims himself as kuwaitan rather than Indian. You can also sense that he despise his own country. He survives with his lovable wife, Amrita ( Nimrata Kaur) and Adorable daughter. Everything  goes well until the iraq army invaded kuwait.

Ruthless Iraq Army launch attack on the public and private property of Kuwait and targets Kuwaitin. The government abscond their people on their own. As Ranjit Katiyal tries to check on the situation, He gets nabbed and his chauffeur is killed by the Iraq Army. As Iraq has good relations with India, Ranjit manage to get immunity from Iraq Army after negotiation with Army major (Inaamulhaq).

When Ranjit prepare to go back to his own country, He learns that thousands of Indians are eager to go back to india but they are hapless. It moves his heart and abruptly change him into a patriot. With help of his other indian business friends, He manage to get shelter for 170k Indians and contacts Indian MEA ( Ministry of External Affairs) office for help. An officer Sanjeev Kohli tries to help them despite minister pathetic attitude. How will thousands of Indians go back to their home. What are the issues they dealt with,? and How Ranjit Katiyal played pivotal role in large evacuation? are important parts of the story.

Although, The real trajedy happened 25 years ago, Raja Krishna Menon, took me on his vehicle back to 90, He penned the true events into riveting narrative and kept me not to take my eyes off the screen. The brillaint performances by the cast sumps up the direction. As Runtime is 124 minutes, You can comfortably watch this real life trajedy based film. Top notch work by the cameraman. Arjit Dutta scored Background Score is very impressive.

After a few commercial misfires, Khiladi did an experimental film. The actor got too much scope to exhibit his acting skills owing to the content. He flawlessly justified the role. The Lunch Box actress Nimrat Kaur also did a good job. Purab kohli is an another actor, made his mark. Rest of the cast supported very well.

Airlift is a perfect film to watch on this republic day. It will subtly instill patriotism in you. The riveting Screenplay steal the show along with Stellar performance by the cast. I will go with four out of five stars.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra might be a great lover of Chess game. The characters he written in wazir, transformed into pawns on the chess board and kicks off the game. Sometimes dark takes on white and Vice versa. In the end good side wins the game.

Shaitan director Bejoy Nambiar directed this action Thriller stars Farhan Akhtar, who played the role of Anti Terrorism squad officer, Danish Ali, Who lost his little girl to ambushed terrorist firing. His lovable wife Ruhana ( Played by Aditi Rao Hydari) estranged him owing to his irresponsibility. Devastated Danish wants to avenge his daughter death. Afterwards, He learns about the whereabouts of terrorists and kills them and it leads to his suspension.

But His ordeal resort him to attempt suicide, In the meantime, A physically handicapped old man, Omkar nath Dhar AKA Pandit ji ( Ambitabh Bachchan) thwarts him, and teaches Chess game to him. In no time, They become good friends. Pandit ji tells his ordeal to Danish, that his girl is murdered by a Central Minister, Qureshi (Manav) but the wicked politician promulgate it as mishap. As Pandit ji expressed his anger over the politician, Wazir (Neil Nitin Mukesh) enters into the game to intimidate Pandit ji and Danish. Who is the real Wazir and How Danish sloves the case are the moves you have to watch on the big screen.

The films biggest drawback is plot line. There are no enough twists and turns as the promos promised. Abhijat joshi and Vinod Chopra written narrative is  merely banked on the performances of the lead cast. Bejoy Nambiar extracted the finest performance in his actors. 103 minute runtime is another saving grace of the film. Otherwise the story would turn out as chewing gum.

Sanu John Varghese camerawork is absolutely great. Most of the frames are like Black and white which implies us that the yarn is Chess game between good and evil. A bunch of musicians composed music, None of them are too catchy, except tere bina song.

Amitabh bachchan plays the role of a physically handicapped man who seeks the revenge on wicked politician. He nailed the role with his impeccable dialogue delivery and emotions. Perhaps the aura of Amitabh makes farhan akthar to emote more as required. He too pulled off the role with ease. Though Neil Nitin Mukesh screen space is too minimal, the actor made his mark. Aditi Rao hyadari and Manav supported very well.John Abraham made a good cameo appearance.

The first biggest commercial film of 2016 made its mark on the audiences. Go and watch the action Thriller on this weekend. I will go with three out of five stars.

Dilwale Movie Review

image

Rating : 2.5/5.

Bottom Line : A damp Squib.

It’s been five years since the SRK – Kajol pair appear on the big screen. The last time they were seen together in My Name is Khan. Director Rohit Shetty roped in the popular onscreen couple in his latest feature Dilwale. Young actors Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon played an another couple in this  action romantic comedy entertainer.

Dilwale is the tale of a gangster, Kaali played by Shahrukh Khan. One day he bumps into Meera and falls in love with her. But In no time, They choose to part ways.  Here, I don’t want to reveal the twist, Which is weaved by Yunus Sajwal. The love saga of Meera and Kaali happens in Bulgaria.

After  fifteen years, Kaali becomes Raj, lives happily as Mechanic with his younger brother, Veer ( Varun Dhawan) and his associates in Goa. One fine day, Mischievous Veer falls in love with a gorgeous girl, Ishita (Kriti Sanon). The young couple decide to get married. Even Raj gives his consent to their marriage. The screen writer Sajwal even write a twist here. Abruptly, Raj asks his young brother to forget Ishita. why Kaali becomes raj? Why Raj asks his brother to forget Ishita? and why Kaali and Meera part their ways? and what happened in the end. You will find out all the answers to the above question in theatres.

Perhaps Screen writer Yunus Sajwal thinks that his screenplay has unpredictable twists in the yarn, written by sajid Fahad. But the whole story is a predictable affair. Like All Rohit Shetty films, Even in Dilwale, you would witness blowing cars in hi octane action sequences, which are unnecessary to this romantic entertainer. Dudley’s camera work is one the bright spots of the film. Music scored by Pritam and Amar Mohile, is not even enough to pump up the visuals.

Most of the runtime cash in on the chemistry between SRK and Kajol, The lackluster Screenplay cast shadows on the lead cast performance. It is a calk walk role for Shahrukh Khan, He excelled in his role. It is a come back film for kajol but the screen writer didn’t cater enough screen time for such a talented actress. Young Actor Varun Dhawan carried his natural energy through out the film. Kriti sanon justified role. Sanjay mishra and Johnny lever tickled the funny bone. Bomani Irani is seen in a poor role. Vinod Khanna and Kabir bedi have done their roles well.

From the day one of Dilwale pre production, This film has generated too much hype because of SRK – Kajol pair. Rohit Shetty failed to live upto it owing to lackluster narrative. I will go with two and half out of five stars.

Hate Story 3 Movie Review

Rating : 3/5.

Cast : Sharman Joshi, Zareena Khan, Karan Singh Grover, Daisy Shah and Others.

Directed by : Vishal Pandya.

Language : Hindi.

Genre : Romance, Drama, Thriller.

Release date : 4th December 2015.

Music : Meet Bros.

Bottom Line : Not bad, but Not good enough.

Revenge is the primary asset for Hate Story franchise. In the first two instalments, Women took revenge on men, who ruin their lives. but here the premise is different, where a man takes his revenge on man. Although, the plot has as twists as its previous installments. Vivek Agnihotri helmed the first project and the remaining two instalments are directed by Vishal Pandya. The latter’s previous outing, Hate Story 2 performed well at the box office. The franchise name and sensual promos helped to bring the audience to theatres.

Hate story 3 kicks off with an industrialist, Aditya Diwan (Sharman Joshi) inaugurates a hospital, which is memorial to his elder brother, Vikram Diwani. In an interview, His wife Siya Diwan reveals that she was in relationship with Vikram Diwan before marrying Aditya. In the meantime, Aditya gets an undeniable gift from an another industrialist, Sourav Singhania, ( Karan Singh Grover). On the invitation of Sourav, Aditya goes for lunch along with his wife. Sourav eyes on Siya. In a business proposal Sourav extend his support to Diwan on one condition. It infuriate Aditya and leave the place. As a result, One of Diwan companies gets seized in a plan of Sourav. Aditya ropes in Kaaya ( Daisy Shah) to retrieve the true identity of Sourav. But his attempt goes in vain. Sourav kills Kaaya for sabotage and projects it as Aditya killed the poor girl. Diwani scion gets imprisonment. What happens next is rest of the story.

Screen writer Vikram bhatt’s stories are full of Romance, Drama and thrilling moments. Revenge is the primary asset for Hate story installments. Director Vishal pandya’s previous outing, Hate story 2 hits the bull-eye at the box office. But here, the director has failed to generate a good chemistry between the lead actors and the narrative lacks the intensity which doesn’t even to match up the hate story franchise. Visuals are superbly supported by Music.

This is a typical role for Sharman Joshi. He doesn’t fit into the shoes of anti hero role. Karan Singh might have done his best but the character demands much intensity which he failed to reach. Zareena Khan excelled in his role. she sets fire on the screen whenever narrative demands. Even Jai ho actress Daisy Shah gives enough oomph factor.

Hate story 3 fails to emulate their previous installments. It lacks the intensity as it needs. Mismatching cast is the minus thing to this revenge Drama. However, A few erotic scenes managed to get whistles from the front seats.I will go with three out of five stars.

Rating : 3.5/5.

Cast : Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Others.

Directed by : Imitiaz Ali.

Language : Hindi.

Genre : Romance Drama Comedy.

Release date : 27th November 2015.

Music : A R Rahman.

Bottom Line : Just be yourself.

‘Why always the same story’, With this tagline, Director Imitiaz Ali  grabbed the eye balls of audience. The director Is best at making contemporary love stories. His previous films Hai Jawaani Hain Dewaani, Rock Star, Love Aaj Kal and Wake up Sid are epitomes of his work.

Tamasha kicks off in Corsica, France. A happy go lucky girl, Tara Maheshwari played by Deepika Padukone, who lost her accessories and passport bumps into a carefree guy, Trivedi Hansari ( Ranbir Kapoor). In no time, They gets cozy owing to same attitude. They decide to explore themselves under one condition. ‘Whatever they do it is in Corsica and They will never meet again.’ In the meantime, Tara gets her passport back and leave for India. After a few years, Tara, who cherish with Vedh memories, comes across Trivedh in Delhi. But This time She observes a different Vedh, who is polite and follows a pattern life. When Vedh proposes Tara, She rejects him because of not being himself. Then on, He acts weird. What happens next is rest of the story.

As I said before, Imitiaz Ali is best making love stories. There is a tricky screenplay. For the first few minutes you would feel flummox but gradually the director connects you to the puzzles he created. In the end you will find his theme. The best thing about Imitiaz, is extracting the best on screen chemistry from lead pair.He create some magic and made audiences awe struck. AR Rahman has scored foot tapping tunes. Matargasti is turned out as one of my favorite of Rahman compositions.

This is the fourth time for Ranbir Kapoor to collaborate with director Imitiaz Ali.Their coordination is always excellent. The actor steals the show with his impeccable performance. His  onscreen love interest, Deepika Padukone has confined to first half and much less in second half because of script. The other cast members are good in their roles.

Tamasha has managed to enthrall the viewers despite having some cliche frames. Ranbir Kapoor bounced back with this film. There are some sparkle moments and the same time some jaded moments too. However, Tamasha will rejuvenate you. I will go with three and half out of five stars.

Cast : Salman Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Neil Nithin mukesh, Anupam kher and Others.

Directed by Sooraj Bajratya.

Language : Hindi.

Genre : Drama, Romance.

Release date : 12th November 2015.

Music :Himesh Reshmiyya.

Bottom Line : Nothing will give you more happiness than family.

Three months ago Salman khan had come up with Bhajrangi Bhaijaan and won the appaluse from entire film fraternity. After ages, He has teamed up with his Main Pyaar kiya director Sooraj Bajratya again for Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. After a sabbatical of nine years, The director is back at the helm. His films like Main Pyaar kiya, Hum Aapke hai kaun and Hum saath saath hain  are turned out as all time cult classics. Family emotions and values of relationships are the primary assets in sooraj bajaratya’s stories. After being teamed up with actor salman khan for most of his projects, The duo is back again with Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.

PRDP opens with a troupe, Prem leela. A theatre artist, Prem dilwale played by salman khan has crush on a princess, Maithili (Sonam kapoor), who also runs charitrable trust, Upahaar. A prince Vijay singh (salman khan) is engaged to Maithili. He has some legal problems with his half sister, Rajkumari Chandrika (Swara bhaskara) owing to his callous attitude. While his coronation is on the edge, He meet with an incident in a plan to kill  him by his half brother, Ajay singh played by Neil nithin mukesh. In the meantime, Diwan (Anupam kher) bring in Prem dilwale in place of vijay to find out the culprit behind mishap. In this course, Prem wins the hearts of his half sisters and Maithili. While vijay singh recuperating in a restricted fort, someone abducts him. what will happen next, forms the crux of the story.

It might be a old script, But this kind of stories needed to revive the values of relationships in present time. Although Sooraj Bajratiya is back at the helm after ages. He hasn’t lost his midas touch. The narrative reminded me of his repetoire.you will witness that huge sets, vintage cars and  family emotions in this 171 minutes movie. There is no too much voilence and cheap oneliners. The story goes swiftly with the phenomenal performance of protagonist.  Some dragging scenes should have been chopped off. Himesh Reshmiyaa has composed classic songs which remind you of 90’s. He did a good job.

Salman khan is the most associated actor with sooraj bajratya. Their previous ventures are turned out as all time classics. It is inevitable to expect much more from PRDP. The star actor carried off the film on his shoulder with his impeccable performance. Sonam kapoor didn’t match up to the standards of Bajratya actresses. She need a lot of groom in her acting. Neil Nithiin mukesh is another actor, who gave below par performance where there is much scope to prove his mettle. Anupam kher did a great job with the subtle emotions. Armaan Kohli didn’t fit into the role of antagonist. Passable performance by Swara bhaskara. Rest of the cast has supported well.

On the whole, Sooraj bajratya reminded you of 90’s days with his latest venture. He told us Nothing will  give more happiness than family. Im sure this will ring the cash register at the box office. This movie is not for the people who do not believe in family values. I will go with three and half out of five stars.

Directed by : Luv Ranjan.

Genre : Romance Comedy.

Release Date : 16th October 2015.

Bottom Line : The complications of relationships.

Luv ranjan become overnight star film maker with the success of his debut film, Pyaar ka punchanama. then he made Akashaa Vaani but it didn’t perform well. Atlast, Luv Ranjan planned to make sequel to his first film. Although, He gives a message to the young lads, A section of  people termed him as misogynistic.I wonder What would people call him after Pyaar ka punchanama 2.

There are three flatmates ( Anshul ( Karthik Aryan), Siddharth (Sunny Singh), and Tharun (Omkar Kapoor), who are also best friends have a perfect lives. Anshul gets into relationship with Ruchika ( Nushrat Barucha), Siddharth with Supriya ( Sonali Sehgall) and Tharun with Kusum (Ishita Sharma). As time passes, Three best friends lives get complicated by relationships. How they solve their issues forms the crux of the story.

Pyaar ka punchanama 2 doesn’t related to the first part in terms of plot line. Luv Ranjan retained the two top lead actors in this sequel as well. Although, Narrative is quite similar to the first part but the director executed it enthrallingly. The dialogues won the brownie points. Cameraman has supported very well with the visuals.  A bunch of Musicians scored peppy music and it is good.

Luv ranjan allowed Karthik Aryan and Nushrat  to play the lead roles again in the sequel. Both have done a great job. New actors Omkar Kapoor, Sunny Singh, Sonali Sehgall and Ishita have delivered natural performance.

Jazbaa Movie Review

Rating : 3/5.

Cast : Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Irrfan khan, Shabhana Azmi, Priya Banerjee and Others.

Directed by : Sanjay Gupta.

Language : Hindi.

Genre : Drama Thriller.

Release date : 9th October 2015.

Music : Amar Mohile.

Bottom Line : Irrfan steals the show.

Jazbaa is the come back film for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Who is considered as the scale for female attractiveness in India. After a hiatus of five years this former miss universe teamed up with director  Sanjay Gupta for this thriller. Shabhana Azmi, Irrfan khan and Priya Banerjee played important roles. The promotions were so huge right from the first day of shoot. Let’s check out what’s this Jazbaa all about.

Jazbaa opens with A top paid lawyer in Mumbai, Anuradha varma, who is also doting mother to a six years old girl, Shayna played by Sarah. In a school event, Shayna gets abducted by a mysterious person. The kidnapper then later demands Anuradha to defend for a drug dealer, Nazir, who is on trail in a rape and Murder case. Girija (Shabhana Azmi)’s daughter Siya (Priya Banerjee) gets killed by Nazir. While probing, A corrupted police officer Yohaana ( Irrfan Khan)  who  is also a friend of Anuradha comes forward to help the lawyer to solve the riddle. While probing they ascertain that An MP, Mahesh (Jackie Shroff) son is involved in this case. Who actually killed Siya? Who kidnapped Shayana? and  Will Anuradha get succeed in the case? forms the crux of the story.

Jazbaa is the subtle fight between Aishwarya rai and Shabhana Azmi. One wants to get her kidnapped daughter back and other one seeks justice to her daughter. Sanjay Gupta added twists and turns in this subtle fight between two mothers.Unfortunately, The helmer has failed to keep the viewers on the edge of seat with the narrative. The Visuals captured by Sameer arya are superb and Editing done by Sunil Nayak is so crisp. Amar Mohile composed Background score sumps the visuals.

The protagonist Aishwarya Rai bachachan has done justice to her role. She got blood shot eyes in every frame to express the grief of a mother. Shabhana Azmi’s screen space is less in this 123 minutes film, But she made her mark. Irrfan khan has given dominating performance with his gleaming look and dialogues. In one of the scenes A baddie says that Hey back off you are not a cop anymore I know my rights. Irrfan retorted with India mein rights? Hollywood film baahut dekthe hoon na? Ye Bollywood hai. These lines brought smiles on viewers faces. Jackie shroff role is very minimal and he did a good job. The other cast members did a good job.

On the whole, Jazbaa’s motive is to impart the predicament of rape victims to the viewers. Although, It is the remake of Korean film seven days, It questions the Indian judicial system about rape convicts. The film would have been much better movie if it had riveting narrative. I will go with three out of five.
